Canadian Heritage

Description.

Canada on the Move was born in Montreal’s Old Port: a symbolic, human-scale gathering to launch Canada Day festivities in a different way.

It wasn’t a show.
It was a gesture.
A movement.

An invitation to walk together — through the city, in the real world, in our time.

At the origin of this project was Tandem Communication’s desire to imagine an event that was unifying, peaceful, and meaningful. An annual happening that, over the years, could become a new urban ritual, open to everyone, reflecting the country we aspire to inhabit: free, diverse, and in motion.

Producing an event like Canada on the Move means believing that our national holiday can be more than just a moment of celebration.
It means believing it can also carry meaning, beauty, and dialogue.

This project could not have existed without the deep commitment of the City of Montreal, all its services, the SPVM, and with the essential support of Canadian Heritage, which allowed us to launch this initiative with confidence and ambition. Our heartfelt thanks also go to our many public and private partners.

And if, one day, we were all to walk for a single, shared cause…
Perhaps simply that of being together.
